Giving her a relaxer isn't really necessary unless the child has hair with a tight kinky curl (meaning that pressing or hot combing isn't enough to style it). If the child has that type of hair a relaxer is necessary but just use a no lye relaxer. I can't believe you are seriously asking this question. Of course 5 years old is too young. You need to consider double twists, which is easy to do, or getting someone to braid it (no weave, just corn rows). At what age did you get your hair relaxed and what was your mom's thought process at that time?

5yrs old is lil young for relaxer n stuff...maybe u wanna add on pretty lil clips..n small fake flowers to complement her hairstyle!

I wouldn't just yet because if she already has little hair the chemicals in the relaxer can mess it up big time trust me just try to maintain until shes a little older
