Well, anything. But I have to say I favor double French braids or just a few corn rows on the top of the head. Leaving it down is okay, too.
Well i would say anything is appropriate. Anything to fancy or inappropriate couldn't be done by a 10 year old so really anything.

down or up in a pony tail, or pig tails...
no one will remember by the time youre in high school no matter what you do.. (unless you were to dye it a bizarre color or shave your head)
