%26lt;---------------------------------What are different types of spiked hair styles?
I can't answer with regard to 3-5 inch spikes. I can't see how such a style could complement anyone. Most ';shorter-ish spiked hairstyles'; aren't exactly spiked though that is the current term. They are actually short pompadour styles-crew cut, flat top crew cut, ivy league(long crew cut.) The hair is graduated in length to the front hairline to counter the forward slope of the skull. This allows the short pomp front to be readily formed when the hair is brushed back off the forehead, usually with the aid of a very small amount of control wax to aid in grooming. In side profile the outline of the top hair of all crew cuts, when brushed back to form the short pomp front, should approach the horizontal. From the front, a crew cut can contour to varying degrees according to what is most complementary to the face shape, front hairline and facial features. The outline of the top hair of a flat top crew cut also appears horizontal from the front.

Whichever style you decide on, take a few photos to help describe it to the barber or stylist.
Good Luck!
